Fornication and its catastrophic result

But Sex outside of marital bonds is termed as "Zina" (fornication / adultery) and Allah says in the Qur'an : "And come not near to Zina (fornication). Verily, it is a Fahisha (i.e. a great sin) and an evil way." (The Noble Qur'an 17 : 32)  The ill effects of Zina (fornication) can clearly be seen in the Western countries where indiscriminate sexual activity seems to be the rule rather than the exception. The direct consequences of which being a high rate of divorce, the alarming increase of 'single mothers' and the breakdown of the family, as the most basic unit of the society. It is therefore not difficult to realize the divine wisdom behind the strict punishments for Zina (fornication / adultery) in Islam.

But today besides Zina (fornication) that became popular among World countries beginning early 20th century, more tragic form of Zina spread- homosexuality. Such was also the case of the people of the time of Prophet Lut, "And Remember Lut, when he said to his people - Do you commit the worst sin such as none preceding you have committed among the mankind and Jinn? Verily, you satisfy your lusts on men instead of women! Nay but you are a people transgressing beyond bounds (by committing great sins)." (The Noble Qur'an 7 :80-81)  This is because Homosexuality is against nature (Fitrah), against common sense, against anatomy, against physiology, against logic, against aesthetics; and yet we find the Western media portray homosexuality as "Freedom of Choice" as if it is an acceptable form of social behavior.

As for those homosexual men from among the nation of Prophet Lut - the Qur'an says: "Verily, they were a people given to evil and were the Fasiqun (disobedient). (The Noble Qur'an 21:74) and their punishment was ...."And we (Allah) rained down on them a rain (of stones). And see what the end of the Mujrimun (sinners) was. (The Noble Qur'an 7 : 84)

These two forms of Zina has opened a way to fatal disease that became horror of mankind and spreading over world population. This is AIDS. AIDS is spread mainly due to indiscriminate sexual activity, homosexuality & drug abuse.    It is a fatal disease that weakens the resistance of the body and makes it defenseless against all kinds of infections such as pneumonia, diarrheas, Kaposi's sarcoma, etc. Anyone who develops AIDS dies within a few years and the death is likely to be horrible. And until today there is still NO CURE for it. Since AIDS is infectious and fatal, it has produced a new breed of untouchables from whom both men and women flee in fear of their very lives. Publicity on the subject has created such a scare that barbershops in western countries often display signboards bearing the unlikely legend: “No Shaves Here.”

After making detailed investigations, experts confirmed that the prime cause of this deadly disease is promiscuity. Since it is transmitted mainly by homosexuals, it has come to be known as the “Gay Disease.” Promiscuity, euphemistically referred to as 'free love' in the western world, has brought down a curse upon humanity. Such a complete about-face has been caused by the devastating effects of AIDS. It has forced the west to re-think the whole question of free sex – a development which seems little short of miraculous. This disease spreads so rapidly that its explosion in the world of today has been geometric. Chilled by the fatality of AIDS, one of its victims exclaimed: “What will happen in this world, if we have to die when we make love? AIDS is the century’s evil.”

It was not without good reason that the Quran, Allah's Book, commanded that sexual relationships should be confined within the bounds of marriage; it states what means: “…[Lawful in marriage] are chaste women from among the believers and chaste women from among those who were given the Scripture before you, when you have given them their due compensation, desiring chastity, not unlawful sexual intercourse or taking [secret] lovers…” [Quran: 5:5]

This has been interpreted by Quranic commentators as a clear injunction to establish sexual relations only through marriage, and that there should be no extra-marital relationships. The Quran states what means: "…And those who guard their private parts, except from their wives or those their right hands possess, - for indeed, they are not to be blamed – But whoever seeks beyond that, then they are the transgressors." (Quran: 70:29-31)

Experiments have shown that this is the only right and natural way. Marital relationships and fornication are not just matters of approval or disapproval by religious authorities, but matters of life and death. The married state is a blessing for human society; any other is a curse; Allah says what means: "And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought." (Quran: 30:21)

Islamic doctrines and traditions which succeeded in institutionalizing a solid system of sexual behavior, arranging and shaping a unique Muslim perception of sexual relationships, has also shielded the Muslim world from being easy prey to AIDS. Yet, arguing that the Muslim world is largely AIDS free or that the epidemic has little presence among Muslims is a mere fantasy, a fantasy that could lead to disaster.

“Whenever sexual permissiveness spreads among the people until it becomes declared, infections and killing diseases, as well as illnesses not previously found in their ancestors will spread among them" (Sunan Ibn Majah)
